How to Help

At Pitties & Kitties Rescue, everything we do is powered by our community. We are a 100% volunteer-run, foster-based rescue... meaning we don’t have a facility and rely entirely on fosters, donors, and supporters to save lives.

There are so many ways to make an impact... whether you have time, space, or just a few dollars to give. Every single action helps us continue saying yes to animals in need.
 

Become a Foster

Fostering is the #1 way to save lives.

By opening your home temporarily, you give a dog or cat a safe place to decompress, heal, and prepare for adoption. Without fosters, we cannot pull animals from overcrowded shelters.

We provide:

  • Veterinary care

  • Supplies (as available)

  • Guidance and support every step of the way

You provide:

  • A safe, loving environment

  • Transportation to vet visits (when possible)

  • Updates, photos, and communication

Whether you can foster for a few days, a few weeks, or longer—you are making a life-saving difference.
 

Adopt

Choosing to adopt doesn’t just change one life... it creates space for us to save another.

Our animals live in foster homes, so we’re able to learn their personalities and help match them with the right home.

When you adopt from PKR, you’re getting a pet who has been:

  • Loved and cared for in a home environment

  • Evaluated for temperament and needs

  • Fully vetted (or supported through remaining care)

Adoption is a commitment... but it’s also one of the most rewarding decisions you’ll ever make.
 

Donate

As a nonprofit, donations are what keep us going.

From emergency vet visits to routine care, food, formula, and supplies... costs add up quickly, and adoption fees rarely cover it all.

Your donations help us:

  • Pay down ongoing vet bills

  • Fund emergency medical cases

  • Provide care for bottle babies, seniors, and special needs animals

  • Cover boarding when no foster is available

You can support us by:

  • Making a one-time donation

  • Becoming a monthly donor

  • Contributing to specific fundraisers (like $5 Fridays or sponsor squares)

  • Calling in payments directly to our veterinary clinics

Donate Supplies

We are always in need of supplies to care for our animals!

Common needs include:

  • Dog & cat food (especially kitten food)

  • Puppy formula

  • Pee pads

  • Crates & carriers

  • Blankets & towels

  • Cleaning supplies

Share & Advocate

One of the easiest (and most powerful) ways to help is simply by sharing.

Every share helps our animals reach new audiences—and potentially their future families.

You can help by:

  • Sharing our posts on social media

  • Talking about adoptable animals with friends and family

  • Inviting others to events

  • Advocating for rescue, fostering, and responsible pet ownership

We host and participate in events throughout the community—from adoption events to fundraisers and partnerships with local businesses.
