Moira

Some dogs spend their entire lives giving everything they have to the people they love... and when they're no longer "useful," they're discarded. That was Moira's story... until now.

Moira was surrendered to a rural shelter alongside her five puppies by the very family who had raised her her entire life. One of her puppies died shortly after and she was left with 4. They claimed she was "extremely aggressive" toward their male dog... the same intact male dog who repeatedly fathered litter after litter with her so the family could sell the puppies. When she arrived at the shelter, "AGGRESSIVE" was written across her kennel card.

The second we met her... we knew that label didn't belong to her.

Moira is one of the sweetest, most affectionate dogs you could ever hope to meet. She absolutely adores people and seems to believe every human exists solely to give her love. Adults? She loves them. Kids? She thinks they're wonderful too. She happily soaks up every bit of attention she can get and will gladly trade kisses and cuddles for belly rubs.

Even more impressive? She completely trusts the people caring for her puppies. She has never minded humans handling or interacting with her babies, showing just how gentle and confident she truly is.

🐶 Dogs: Because Moira is currently raising her puppies, we have not been able to properly evaluate her with other dogs. At this time, she is living separately while she focuses on being the incredible mama that she is. Her previous owners claimed she was aggressive toward their male dog, but given everything we've learned about her, we want to perform our own careful introductions and evaluations once her puppies are weaned in mid-August before making any final conclusions. Until then, we're looking for a family that would be perfectly happy if Moira ended up needing to be the only dog in the home. If our future evaluations show otherwise, we'll happily update her profile!

🐱 Cats: We have not been able to cat test Moira yet. This will also happen once her puppies are weaned.

🐐 Livestock: Moira currently shares a fence line with several goats and couldn't care less about them. She has shown no desire to hop the fence or interact with them. She also pays very little attention to the neighbor's barking dogs or her foster family's large female livestock guardian dog when they meet at the fence.

🏡 House Manners: Moira has been an absolute dream in foster care! She appears to be fully potty trained and has done wonderfully whether she's in a kennel, an x-pen, or simply free roaming her foster's casita. She is calm, respectful, and incredibly easy to live with.

☀️ Personality: If you're looking for an easygoing companion, Moira is your girl. She's perfectly content lounging in the sunshine, going for leisurely walks, curling up for snuggles, or simply hanging out with her people. She doesn't demand constant activity or endless exercise, but she's always happy to join in if her family wants an adventure. She's truly one of those dogs who just wants to be wherever her favorite humans are.

Watching Moira with her puppies has been nothing short of heartwarming. She is patient, gentle, nurturing, and endlessly loving with them. She's given everything she's had to her babies... and now it's finally her turn to be someone's baby.

Moira has spent her whole life taking care of everyone else. Now she's ready for a family who will take care of her.

Could that family be yours? ❤️
