Walter had been in a rural shelter for too long and in that time he had proven one thing loud and clear… he is 100% an amazing dog. Walter loves love. In fact, he craves it. If he could melt into his human, he absolutely would. Cuddling is his love language, throw a blanket on him and he will stay snuggled next to you until you get up. If you don’t move, neither will he.

He is working on confidence building after being alone in the shelter for so long. A simple “good boy” or “I love you” goes so far for him, he tries so hard to please his person. Walter also keeps his space clean: he has never messed in his kennel, and if you tuck him in with a blanket, he knows it’s bedtime. He’s improved beautifully with house training and is already going to the door when he needs out.

🐶Dogs: Walter is dog friendly and currently lives with small/large, male/female dogs! He prefers dogs who leave him alone, he’s happiest focusing on his human. He does well with small dogs and larger female dogs who aren’t pushy. He’s also perfectly happy being the one and only if that is in the cards!

🐱 Cats: Walter is great with cats and generally ignores them. Honestly… he might secretly be a cat. He is currently fostered with several

👧 Kids: Walter hasn’t met any kiddos while in our care so we don’t have a lot of information! Walter is a silly “nibble-patty” boy who doesn’t know his own strength and could accidentally knock over a small child while trying to play. But we wouldn’t know until we see how he is with kiddos. We would love to introduce him to your kiddos to see what it’s like if you are interested in him!

🧑‍🦰 Adults: Men? Ditch the hat when meeting Walter. Hats make him nervous, likely due to someone rough with him in the past. However, we do know that his previous owner was a man… and he absolutely ADORES his foster dad. Ladies, if you’re looking for a guy who wants nothing more than food, warmth, and endless cuddles… Walter is your man.

Walter has so much love to give and wants nothing more than to make his people happy. He tries with his whole heart, and he is beyond deserving of a home that will love him right back.
